Stylus Pressure Gauge – for pre Hi Fi era cartridges and record changers

$37.75

Record players in the 1930’s, 40’s and early 50’s typically worked best with about 6 grams of stylus pressure. With the evolution of magnetic cartridges and vinyl records Hi Fi was born. None the less, those 78’s issued during World War II thru to the early 50’s had their shellac constantly under attack from massive tone arm cartridge combinations. This piece of history reveals how the technician determined stylus pressure to the nearest gram. The stylus was placed on the T and counter weight applied in one of the special holes.
